Belonging, Behaviour & Engagement
Good behaviour is essential in creating our happy and effective school. Behaviour is something scrutinised in every aspect of achieving a ‘good/ outstanding’ school and we at Montpelier High School feel strongly that our behaviour management systems will provide a positive framework for our children to work within successfully.
Our Policy
Belonging is that sense of being somewhere where you can be confident that you fit in and feel safe in your identity. What happens in any school is down to the people in and around it: the students, their families, the staff - and the leaders. If you feel you belong, you feel safe, are able to participate and engage and therefore achieve.
ذكذكتسئµ & V6 Sixth Form treat everyone with unconditional respect and have high expectations for both adults’ and students’ learning and social behaviours. To read the full details of our MHS & E-ACT Pupil Behaviour Policy, please click below (opens new window).
Mobile Phones
Mobile devices and accessories provide many advantages but can also present a serious safeguarding risk in schools. There is an increasing body of evidence that shows the unnecessary distraction, disruption and diversion caused by mobile phones in schools. For this reason, mobile devices and accessories are strictly prohibited at ذكذكتسئµ. This will create an environment where pupils can focus on learning and socialising, while ensuring that cyberbullying is never tolerated. The policy applies to phones, Apple watches, cameras and all other combinations and variations of personal, digital communication systems/accessories.
- Mobile devices and accessories must be switched off, stored in lockers or left at home
- Any telephone communication between students and parent/carers during the school day should be via the school reception.
- Students carrying phones do so at their own risk. The school cannot be held responsible for loss, theft or damage to phones brought into school
- If a student is seen to have a mobile device or accessories with them, they will be reminded of the school policy and then the items will be confiscated and returned at the end of the school day
- If a student is seen using a mobile device inappropriately on the school site, they will be reminded that it is a safeguarding issue and then the phone will be confiscated and returned at the end of the school day.
- In the case of students who had a mobile device or accessory confiscated twice or more in a term, a parent or carer will need to personally collect the item from school
- If a mobile device is used for photography, video or audio recording, or any form of cyber bullying, it will automatically be confiscated. School staff may ask the student concerned to play back the relevant recording or do this themselves. In extreme cases, the school may hand the device to the police for examination. Such a situation would normally result in a more severe sanction under the school’s disciplinary policy.
- If a student refuses to hand a device or accessory to a member of staff when requested, then a more severe consequence will follow, and parents/carers will be contacted.
- Communication devices and accessories are banned, by examination regulations, from all public examinations and must always be switched off and left outside the exam room. A breach of these regulations could result in the student being disqualified from that exam and possibly all other exams administered by that examination board. We apply the same policy to our internal school mock examinations.
School Uniform Statement
ذكذكتسئµ has very high expectations of all students and their standards of dress and appearance are very important both when in school and travelling to and from school. Our students represent the school at all times in their uniform and we ask that they take pride in wearing it correctly.
THE STANDARD OF A STUDENT’S UNIFORM WILL BE CHECKED. WHEN STUDENTS ARE DRESSED IN THEIR UNIFORM, THEY ARE REPRESENTING ذكذكتسئµ AND WE ASK THAT THEIR UNIFORM IS CLEAN AND SMARTLY PRESENTED AT ALL TIMES.

Our PE team have provided guidance to help students arrive fully equipped for PE lessons.
- Students with PE period 1+2 will arrive to school in full PE kit and must bring uniform to change into after their PE lesson.
- Students with period P3+4 will arrive to school in full school uniform and will bring their PE kit to change into prior to their PE lesson.
Please ensure your child is prepared for all weather conditions as we do not have any indoor facilities so PE lessons will take place outside unless unsafe to do so. Full details can be found by clicking the images below.

Class Charts
Montpelier High School uses an app called Class Charts, which enables parents/carers the ability to see the number of behaviour points, house points, and details of any detentions a student has accumulated. We also use this system to record homework.
Parents/carers will be sent by email an invitation code to log on to Class Charts.
